On October 28, 2019, Tan Haozhe, Distinguished Professor of Shandong University, was invited by the School of Translation Studies, Shandong University to give a lecture at the 22nd of 2019 (the 324th of all) Boya Forum. His lecture is entitled as “Context Consciousness in Literary Studies”. Some teachers and graduate students of the School participated in the lecture.

There were three parts in the lecture. First of all, Professor Tan took the concept of “academic consciousness” as an example to lead to the center topic of “context consciousness”. Then, he delivered the speech from two aspects: why context consciousness is needed in literary studies; the three historical contexts literary studies are facing nowadays, making insightful points through some examples. In the last part, Professor Tan answered the questions of the participants about the topic, and encouraged the teachers and students to attach importance to literary studies, read more books related and inherit the good tradition of Shandong University in the field of academic studies.
